ABOUT HUAHSIA
CHINESE SCHOOL

HuaHsia all.jpeg

Hua Hsia Chinese School was founded in 2001 by a group of parents and teachers, who wanted to provide a Chinese language and culture program to anyone who’d like learn the language and culture, regardless of gender, age, religion, or background. In 2007 the School Founder changed the school to a privately own school. Hua Hsia Chinese School continued to grow from 80 students to 400 students in the last few years, providing a full range of courses. Hua Hsia registered with Ofsted in 2009 and held the Gold Award from the National Resource Centre of Supplementary Education (NRCSE) for many years.

The founder of Hua Hsia who currently runs the school, Ms Hui-Tzu Ting, is originally from Taiwan. She believes culture is an important part of the school’s curriculum. From 2007 we started to receive support from OCAC (Overseas Community Affairs Council) Taiwan, who sent two art teachers from Taiwan to run the summer camp for our students. We are very grateful for all the support from all funders (Paul Hamlyn Foundation for 3 years family focus project & John Lyon’s Foundation through Goldsmiths, University of London for 5 years of Multimedia culture project). All these programmes have made us a better school and given us the opportunity to embrace more with the local community.

Our unique teaching method is an innovative new teaching way that cleverly combines computing power and multimedia technology to make learning Mandarin Chinese an easy, enjoyable and effective learning experience.
